SUGARING FAQS

How long does my hair need to be?

You need to have 3 weeks of hair growth. The hair needs to be 1/8” which is roughly the size of a grain of rice.  Extracting the hair at 1/8” will lead to permanency over time.

How long will it last?

Typically the results last 3-5 weeks depending on the area and the rate at which your hair grows. The beauty of sugaring is it reduces hair growth over time, meaning you will have less hair to remove each time.

What do I need to do prior to my appointment?

Do not suntan for 24 hours before your appointment. If you have a sunburn, I may not be unable to sugar that area of your skin.

Please be sure your skin is clean and dry, avoiding any lotions, oils, perfumes, powders and deodorants.

Please do not exfoliate the day before, the day of or the day after a sugaring treatment. During the sugaring process, the sugar paste itself will exfoliate your skin, which will leave your skin soft and supple.

What do I need to do post service?

Always moisturize your skin, everyday! I strongly suggest using a water-based lotion as this will help keep your skin hydrated and prevent ingrown hairs.

Treat yourself to a warm bath with Sea Salts, it is great for treating the open pours after your service.

Exfoliation is key to preventing dry skin which can lead to ingrown hairs. A good skin care routine includes gently exfoliating 3 times a week. Ask your sugarist for suggestions if you are not sure where to start!

Who would not be a good candidate for sugaring?

Unfortunately, if you are using Retin-A or any other topical cream for acne on your face, I would not be able to sugar your face at all. You can, however, be sugared in other areas of your body.

If you are using Accutane or have used Accutane in the past 6 months, I cannot treat any area of your body.

How often can I come back for sugaring?

Depending on the area and your hair growth, I typically can rebook after 2-4 weeks. A schedule can be designed specifically for YOU with your sugarist.

EYELASH EXTENSIONS FAQS

Do I need to prep before my appointment?

Please arrive to your appointment with a clean face free of any make-up, creams/ oils, etc.

Also plan accordingly, as you should not get your fresh lashes wet or be near any heat or steam for the first 24 hours.

How long will my appointment be?

Most initial appointments are scheduled for 3 hours. This includes a consultation where we discuss what your wanting and assessing your natural lashes to determine what is best suited for you.

Once we begin to lash, that time is yours to relax and even take a nap.

Will it ruin or cause my natural lashes to fall out?

When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not damage your natural lash.  Certified lash artists will apply to only one natural lash, and will apply an extension that is the appropriate weight and length to ensure the integrity of your natural lash.  Eyelash extensions can be damaging if your lash artist is not using proper techniques.

Based on the growth cycle of eyelashes, when applying lashes, lash stylist are trained to look for adult lashes to attach the individual synthetic lashes. Young (baby) lashes are left to allow them to fully develop and when it comes times to re-lash, we have new strong lashes to bond to lash. Extensions will not cause your natural eyelashes to fall out. Remember that your natural lashes have their own life cycle of falling and growing – like the hair found elsewhere on your body. It's hard to notice small lashes falling out, but when attached to a thicker, longer lash they become much more noticeable! Once the extensions are removed, your own eyes may appear smaller, your natural lashes, shorter and sparser because you've been accustomed to a full set of longer, thicker lashes.

Can I wear mascara with my eyelash extensions?

While it is not recommended, yes you can. However, it needs to be an oil free mascara that is extension safe.  This will make it so your mascara does not interfere with the bond of the eyelash extension adhesive or cause early separation.

The same goes for eye make-up. It is highly recommended you use oil free or 'extension safe' products.

How long will my new lashes last?

Your lashes should last around 2-4 weeks depending on your skin care routine and your natural lash cycle.

To maintain a full set of lashes it is recommended to come in for a fill between 2-3 weeks. Factors such as exposure to humidity, steam or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall quicker.

A good rule of thumb is to come in when you have approx 50-60% of lashes still intact. As long as you have 40% of your lashes remaining, it is considered a fill. Otherwise it will be a full set.

How do I take care of my new lash extensions?

  • Do not get your lashes wet for at least 24 hours after application

  • Do not go tanning for 24 hours after application

  • Use an oil-free eye makeup remover

  • Do not rub, pick or pull your eyes

  • If using mascara/ eye makeup, use water based formulas

  • Avoid using an eyelash curler

  • Try to avoid exposure to heat, steam, sauna and friction

  • MOST IMPORTANTLY clean and brush your lashes daily (ideally with an extension cleanser)

LASH LIFT & TINT FAQS

Will the Lash Lift damage my natural lashes??

No. When performed properly by a certified tech, there should be no damage to your natural lash.

Like any chemical procedure, it can be drying, a good after care serum is HIGHLY recommended to condition and care for the lashes.

How long does a lash lift take?

A lash lift takes about 45 minutes from start to finish.

How long will a Lash Lift last?

A Lash Lift can last 6-8 weeks but can vary from person to person.  There is no need for any maintenance appointments in between but you will need to have the process repeated every 6-8 weeks to lift the new hair growth. Some people do come in between for a tint as the tint generally lasts 3-4 weeks. There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products, excessive rubbing or heat.

How often can a lash lift be done?

It is recommended you have a lift done every 6-8 weeks. However, it can be done after 4 weeks, but no sooner.

Is there anything I need to do after I get my lash lift?

Lash lifts are very low maintenance. It is recommended to avoid getting your lashes wet or exposed to high heat or steam in the first 24 hours.

Avoid waterproof mascara as the chemicals in the waterproof formula are very drying for your lashes. Also the excessive rubbing with the removal can affect your lift.

You should brush your lashes daily to keep them fluffy and separated.

I also always highly recommend a daily lash serum/ conditioner to keep them healthy and strong. This will also ensure when you return for another lift you have the best results!

SHOWER & EXFOLIATE

Shower and exfoliate your face and body. Ideally, this should be done a minimum of 6 hours before your spray tan. We suggest using an exfoliating mitt or a dry brush ( which can be purchased through me ahead of time).

USE NO OIL BASED EXFOLIANTS

It is best to not use oil-based exfoliants or any lotions prior as they can block the tanning process, leaving a residue between your skin and the tanning solution.

MOISTURIZE IF YOU HAVE DRY SKIN

I highly recommend using SunnaTan's lotion as it is specifically formulated to work with the spray tan (this can be purchased through me).

SHAVE IN ADVANCE
